Kira Wheat is a Senior Tax Manager at DHJJ with over 14 years of experience serving a diverse client base, including high net worth individuals and closely held businesses. She has expertise in the real estate, family office, service and investment fund industries.
Kira’s skills include a deep knowledge of individual, trust and partnership tax. She works extensively with real estate developers and operators as well as wealthy families. Her standard services include tax compliance as well as tax planning and consulting on the best paths for her clients. She meets with her clients to listen and learn their business and personal needs so that her advice is tailored to their unique situation. She often works with families and their other outside advisors in interpreting, coordinating and following their complex estate and investment plans.
Her professional memberships include the AICPA, Illinois CPA Society, Legacy Partners, and the DuPage County Estate Planning Council in which she serves as a board member.
Kira has spent her life around the Midwest—she was born in Minot, North Dakota, grew up and graduated high school in Merrillville, Indiana, and then received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from North Central College in Naperville. Accounting was a natural path for her since she loves working with the details and numbers.
With tax laws consistently changing, Kira enjoys the challenge of being able to do something different every day. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, wine tasting, board games, reading, movies, photography and travel. She is a member of Wheaton Bible Church and an active volunteer with the children’s group. She currently lives in Wheaton with her husband and two children who inspire her each day.
- Growing up, Kira would tell you she wanted to be a Veterinarian. But don’t worry that she’s not living out her dream because with 2 dogs, a cat, a tortoise and fish she gets to visit the vet often.
- When it’s time to travel, Kira packs her family up and goes to northern Michigan or Disney World.
- Her kids might bring cute projects home from school, but her favorite artist is her husband, Jonathan.
