About
Russ Brewer is a Principal at DHJJ and a key leader in the firm’s Assurance practice group. With over 21 years of experience in public accounting, he specializes in financial statement audits and reviews, with deep expertise in employee benefit plan (EBP) audits. He works primarily with clients in the manufacturing, distribution, construction, and technology sectors.
Accounting appealed to Russ because of his natural interest in numbers and the story they tell about how a business operates. He finds purpose in translating those numbers into meaningful insights for clients and thrives on the variety each day brings. He is approachable and thoughtful in his work style and believes that best-in-class service starts with listening, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through. Whether advising clients on audit readiness or overseeing assurance engagements, Russ is committed to delivering value that extends beyond the numbers.
Russ earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University and is a licensed CPA. After spending 13 years in larger firms, Russ joined DHJJ in 2017 to contribute to a culture rooted in client-first service, professional growth, and operational excellence. For him, the most rewarding part of his job is helping clients achieve their goals, and mentoring team members so they can make a similar impact.
