Richard Burke is a CFO Consultant and Merger & Acquisition Advisor with DHJJ, bringing over three decades of financial management experience to our Outsourced CFO Service Group. During that time, he spent 21 years as the CFO for middle and upper-market companies across various industries. Additionally, Rick owned and directed a public accounting firm, specializing in tax, accounting and business advisory services.
More recently, Rick has worked as an independent business consultant and M&A advisor. As a Certified M&A Advisor, he has experience in representing middle-market clients on both the buy and sell side of transactions. He has expertise in all aspects of M&A, including due diligence, deal structuring, quality of earnings analysis, business valuation, and exit strategy planning.
With his diverse yet technical background, Rick assists companies in a variety of management and financial areas, including:
- Building and managing accounting departments
- Cash flow analysis and improvement
- Financial forecasting, modeling, and budgeting
- Monitoring KPIs and growth drivers
- Developing and executing business growth and exit strategies
- Identifying investors, buyers, or sellers through diagnostics and benchmark applications
- Determining the optimal financing structure for M&A activities
- Post-merger integration
Rick has deep knowledge of a variety of industries, such as healthcare, professional services, oil and energy, manufacturing, and international import/export.
He holds several professional licenses, including CPA, Chartered Global Managerial Accountant (CGMA), and Certified M&A Advisor (CM&AA). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business with a minor in Law from Western Michigan University as well as an MBA from Webster University.
Outside of Work:
Rick lives in Bartlett with his wife, Lisa, and two young adult sons.
He enjoyed performing as a musician, sports, and classic muscle cars.
Rick coached youth football and travel baseball for 14 years.
