About
Mirella Hernandez brings nearly two decades of experience in public accounting to her role as Principal and leader of DHJJ’s Tax Practice Group. She specializes in business and individual tax planning, as well as tax controversy matters, helping clients navigate complex tax landscapes with clarity and confidence. Mirella works closely with companies in the technology, manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, and service industries, offering strategic tax solutions tailored to their unique needs.
She entered the accounting industry to combine her interest in finance with her passion for working with people. Her entire career has been in public accounting, where she thrives on problem-solving and making meaningful connections. For Mirella, the most rewarding part of her work is helping clients achieve their goals and feel confident in their financial direction.
Mirella earned her Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University and a Master of Accounting Science from Northern Illinois University. She became a Certified Public Accountant in 2006. Mirella joined DHJJ in 2020, appreciating DHJJ’s advisory-first culture and commitment to empower clients through insight, not just information.
