Colin Shaw is an Assurance Principal with DHJJ and serves many types of clients, including franchisors, manufacturers/distributors and those in the construction industry. He especially enjoys the construction industry, as it requires unique accounting skills and tactics, which Colin uses to help his clients manage contractor-related and percentage of completion accounting. He also performs employee benefit plan audits to ensure a company’s plan meets all requirements.
Colin provides general business guidance for his entrepreneurial clients, along with conducting financial statement audits, reviews, compilations and preparing tax returns. In essence, he enjoys doing anything that contributes to the success and financial wellbeing of his clients’ businesses.
Volunteer work is important to Colin, too. He is a former board member of the Naperville Education Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that supports the students of the Naperville schools. Professional memberships include the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. He attended Truman State University for his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and earned a Masters of Accountancy at Northern Illinois University.
Outside of Work:
Colin lives in Naperville, Illinois with his wife and two young sons.
Orange and blue are Colin’s favorite colors, naturally, since he is a devoted Bears fan as well as a general sports enthusiast.
In college, he played wide receiver and served as team captain in his senior year.
