Elizabeth (Liz) Herbst is a Principal with DHJJ. Liz brings over 15 years of experience to her work researching complex tax issues and providing tax planning, compliance services, and proactive business planning.
Her specialty includes working with professional service and technology firms and understanding the unique challenges and opportunities presented such as revenue recognition, State and Local Tax, and sales sourcing. Along with her advanced tax specialization, Liz also assists clients with their accounting needs to help them get a true picture of their business to drive planning considerations.
She has over 10 years of experience assisting clients with IRS and state audits, including managing multi-year and multi-issue IRS audits. Liz brings a proactive approach to managing tax audits, which leads to positive resolutions of audit examination issues.
As companies begin to plan for merger and acquisition activity, whether from a buy or sell side, Liz has the expertise to help proactively look ahead and plan the process.
A graduate of Dominican University, Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Management as well as an MBA. She served as the Past Chair of the Committee for Flow-Through Taxation Conference with the Illinois CPA Society.
She leads the firm in educating CPAs on advanced topics impacting S Corporations and Partnerships. In the community, Liz is a member of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and a Girl Scouts Troop Leader.
Outside of Work:
In her free time, Liz relishes her time with her family.
She also enjoys reading, working out, and gardening, which is a work in progress.
Liz is a serious coffee lover. She not only drinks it non-stop, she worked at Starbucks in college.
